During the visit of Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, to India, the two countries have inked two government-to- government Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) on Global Innovation Partnership and Nuclear Energy Partnership.

Overview

  • The MoU on the Cooperation on Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) was signed between the Department of Atomic Energy of India and the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of the UK.
  • Both countries have reaffirmed their desire to strengthen partnerships on civil nuclear cooperation.
  • Another MoU was also signed on the Implementation of Global Innovation Partnership between the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Aim of the GCNEP
This collaboration has been signed with the aim of jointly promoting training and research on radioactive applications, nuclear energy studies, nuclear safety, and security.
