What does the index say about India?
In this year’s index, the country slipped eight positions from 142 to 150th position. India is said to be one of the most dangerous countries for the press. In the country, an standard of 3 to 4 journalists are killed each year. In this index’s inaugural edition, India was ranked 80th.

This index has been published annually since the year 2020. This index is published by the Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) or Journalists Without Borders. This index is used to rank countries according to the press freedom levels available to the journalists of a country. The index does n’t serve as an index of journalism quality.
